' C. CONDUITS AND DUCTS: <br /> 1. Except as expressly indicated or approved, all conduits shall be concealed in or below <br /> floor slabs or in walls. Care shall be exercised to avoid interference with the work of <br /> other trades. This work shall be planned and coordinated with the other trades to <br /> prevent such interference. Pipes shall have precedence over conduits for space <br /> requirements. Exposed conduits shall be neatly arranged with runs perpendicular or level <br /> and parallel to walls. Bends shall be concentric. <br /> ' D. EXCAVATION AND BACK FILLING: <br /> 1. Trenches for all lines below floor slabs and all underground electrical lines shall be <br /> excavated to the required depths. Conduits under floor slabs shall have trenches no <br /> deeper than is required to properly contain bends within walls. <br /> 2. Underground conduits outside of buildings shall have a minimum cover of 24 inches. <br /> Back filling shall be done only after conduits have been inspected. Material for back <br /> filling shall be sand covered by compacted earth back fill. Excavation and back fill of <br /> lines and conduits shall conform to the requirements of the Earthwork Section of these <br /> Specifications, unless modified on plans, and to other entities as required. <br /> 3. At all times during the installation of the electrical distribution system, the Contractor <br /> shall provide barricades, fences, guard rails, etc., to safeguard all personnel, including <br /> small children, from excavated trenches. <br /> E. DEVICE MOUNTING HEIGHTS: <br /> tI. Mounting heights of fixtures and devices shall be as follows unless otherwise indicated <br /> or directed. <br /> ' Wall switches => 48 inches <br /> Convenience outlets => 12 inches <br /> ' Telephone outlets => 54 inches <br /> Bracket fixtures => 7 feet 6 inches <br /> ' F. WIRING, GROUNDING, AND SHIELDING: <br /> 1. It is important to observe good grounding and shielding practices in the generally noisy <br /> ' environment in this application.
