Any order given by the Engineer not otherwise <br /> required by the specifications to be in writing will , on <br /> request of the Contractor , be given or confirmed by the <br /> Engineer in writing. <br /> ' G5. 05 Authority of the Engineer . The Engineer shall decide all <br /> questions which may arise as to the quality or acceptability of <br /> materials and equipment furnished and work performed, and as to <br /> the manner of performance and rate of progress of the work; all <br /> questions as to the interpretation of the contract drawings and <br /> ' specifications ; all questions as to the acceptable fulfilment <br /> of the contract; and all questions as to compensation. <br /> G5. 06 Inspection. All work done and all materials and equipment <br /> ' furnished under this contract shall be subject to the <br /> inspection and approval of the Engineer . He and his <br /> representatives shall at all times have access to the work <br /> ' during its construction, and shall be furnished with every <br /> reasonable facility and assistance for ascertaining that the <br /> materials and the workmanship are in accordance with the <br /> requirements and intent of the contract drawings and <br /> specifications . Any work constructed without inspection as <br /> provided above, except with the specific consent or approval of <br /> the Engineer , or constructed contrary to the instructions or <br /> orders of the Engineer or his authorized representative , must, <br /> if requested by the Engineer, be uncovered for examination and <br /> properly restored at the Contractor ' s expense. <br /> ' Properly authorized inspectors shall be considered to be <br /> representatives of the Engineer . it will be their duty to <br /> inspect those portions of the work to which they are assigned. <br /> An inspector shall have the authority to order the work <br /> entrusted to his inspection stopped , if in his opinion such <br /> action becomes necessary, until the Engineer is notified and <br /> has determined and ordered that the work may proceed in due <br /> fulfillment of all contract requirements. <br /> The inspection of the work does not relieve the Contractor of <br /> any of his obligations to fulfill the contract as prescribed. <br /> Any work, materials or equipment not meeting the requirements <br /> and intent of the drawings and specifications may be rejected, <br /> and unsuitable work or materials shall be made good , <br /> notwithstanding the fact that such work or materials may have <br /> previously been inspected and payment therefor may have been <br /> made. <br /> ' G5.07 Surveys. All work shall be constructed to the lines and <br /> elevations shown on the contract drawings. <br /> The Engineer will establish an offset line at 50 foot <br /> intervals and furnish cut sheets for all pipelines to be laid <br /> on grade ; will furnish necessary land surveys ; and will <br /> ' G-17 <br />
