from all such fees or claims before the final payment is made <br /> on this contract. <br /> G6.05 Protection of Workman. The Contractor shall conform to the <br /> rules and regulations pertaining to safety established by the <br /> California Division of Industrial Safety. The Contractor shall <br /> immediately replace or repair any unsafe ladder , scaffolding, <br /> shoring or bracing, or correct any other dangerous or hazardous <br /> situation that may exist or that the Engineer may indicate . <br /> Failure of the Engineer to suspend the workor fythe <br /> Contractor of the Inadequacy of the safety precautions <br /> or <br /> non-compliance with the law shall not relieve the contractor of <br /> this responsibility. <br /> ' G6 .06 Protection of Materials and Equipment. The Contractor shall <br /> protect the work, materials, and equipment from damage due to <br /> the nature of the work , the action of the elements , <br /> ' trespassers, or other causes. He shall properly store materials <br /> and equipment , and when necessary erect such temporary <br /> structures as are required to protect them from damage. <br /> G6.01 Sanitary Provisions. The necessary sanitary <br /> nobscuredsfor <br /> from <br /> the use of the workmen on the project, properly <br /> public observance, shall be constructed and maintained by the <br /> Contractor in such <br /> uch points <br /> shall e <br /> approved by the Engineer ,reand <br /> at sss <br /> their shall strictly <br /> enforced. <br /> rG6.08 Public Convenience. All public traffic shall be permitted to <br /> pass through the portions of the work that are in public rights <br /> of way , unless otherwise provided for in the Special <br /> Provisions. The Contractor shall so conduct his operations as <br /> to offer the least possible obstruction and inconvenience to <br /> the public. He shall have under construction no greater length <br /> or amount of work than can be prosecuted properly with due <br /> regard to the rights of the public, and the Engineer shall be <br /> the sole judge of the length or amount of work which will <br /> ' afford proper convenience to the public . In addition to the <br /> requirements for furnishing facilities for public safety as <br /> specified in Section G6 . 09 , the Contractor shall erect such <br /> ' warning and directional signs as may be necessary in the <br /> opinion of the Engineer , for expediting the passage of public <br /> traffic through or around the work and the approaches thereto. <br /> The Engineer shall be notified 24 hours in advance of the <br /> Contractor ' s desire to change any existing traffic patterns. No <br /> changes shall be made until approved by the Engineer . <br /> Existing traffic signal and highway lighting systems shall be <br /> kept in operation for the benefit of the traveling public <br /> during progress of the work , and other forces will continue <br /> routine maintenance of existing systems. <br /> G-27 <br />
