The Contractor will be i <br /> responsible for the preservation of the environment to the <br /> extent of providing for safeguards against conditions of <br /> weather, vandalism, or other factors that may cause stock piled <br /> earth, material or equipment to be spread or scattered about in <br /> areas other than assigned for the work . The Contractor shall <br /> conduct his operations in such a manner as to minimize dust. <br /> Siltation of ditches , ponds , canals and roadways must be <br /> avoided by whatever means is necessary. Materials and equipment <br /> shall be shipped, handled, stored, and installed in ways that <br /> will prevent damage to the items or dispersal to the <br /> surroundings. <br /> G6.13 Existing Utilities. The Contractor shall notify Underground <br /> Service Alert System ( 1-800-642-2444 ) 72 hours prior to <br /> commencement of excavation in any public right-of-way. <br /> In general , the locations of existing major utilities , <br /> whether above ground or underground, are indicated on the <br /> drawings . This information has been obtained from utility maps <br /> and from verbal discriptions provided by the various agencies <br /> involved . The Agency does not guarantee the accuracy or <br /> completeness of this information or underground facilities not <br /> shown on the drawings and may be encountered during the course , <br /> of the work. In any case, minor lines such as water , gas , and <br /> sewer house services are not indicated. <br /> Existing above ground utilities, including but not limited to <br /> power transmission and distribution, telegraph, telephone, and <br /> traffic control systems, whether shown on the drawings or not, <br /> shall be maintained, relocated, rerouted, removed and restored , <br /> as may be necessary by the Contractor of the utilities and the <br /> Agency. <br /> Existing and rearranged underground utilities and appurtenant , <br /> structures whether shown on the drawings or not , shall be <br /> maintained, relocated, rerouted , removed and restored by the <br /> Contractor. , <br /> In the following cases, the Contractor will be reimbursed in <br /> accorance with provisions of G7 . 14 for all costs of modifying , , <br /> rerouting , or relaying major underground utilities. <br /> 1.
