Following the acceptable installation and operation of an item, the items' instructions and s procedures shall be modified and supplemented by the Contractor to reflect all field 10 changes or information requiring field data. , 11 12 D. Before final acceptance of the project, the Contractor shall bind all five sets in appropriately 13 labeled, expanding 8-1/2 inch by 11-inch post-type binders. Binders shall have permanent 14 covers, separators with index tabs, and transparent loose leaf sheet protectors. Each ' 15 completed binder shall contain only that material which can be held with the posts in the 16 non-expanded position. A complete table of contents listing all items and their location in 17 the set shall be included in each binder. For ready reference, the Contractor shall compile 18 a complete list of manufacturer's local representatives for each item provided. The operating 19 personnel shall be instructed in the care of the system in accordance with the approved 20 instructions. 21 22 3.10 SAFETY 23 24 A. The Contractor shall execute and maintain his work so as to avoid injury or damage to any 25 person or property. All work shall be done in conformance with the State of California 26 Division of Industrial Safety and OSHA Standards. 27 za B. Safety precautions as applicable shall include, but not be limited to, adequate life 29 protection, and life saving equipment; adequate illumination for underground and night 30 operations; instructions in accident prevention for all employees; such machinery guards, 31 walkways, scaffolds, ladders, bridges, and other safety devices, equipment and wearing 32 apparel as are necessary or lawfully required to prevent accidents or injuries, and the 33 proper inspection and maintenance of all safety measures. 34 35 C. The names and telephone numbers of at least two medical doctors practicing in the vicinity 36 and the telephone number of the local ambulance shall be prominently displayed adjacent 37 to all telephones. 38 39 3.11 TRENCH SAFETY 40 41 A. Attention is directed to the provisions of Section 6705 of the Labor Code of the State of , 42 California. 43 44 B. Excavation for any trench 5 feet or more in depth shall not begin until the Contractor has 45 received approval from the Engineer, of the Contractor's detailed plan for worker protection 46 from the hazards of caving ground during the excavation of such trench. Such plan shall 47 be submitted at least 5 days before the Contractor intends to begin excavation for the 48 trench and shall show the details of the design of shoring, bracing, sloping, or other 49 provisions to be made for worker protection during such excavation.
