Following the acceptable installation and operation of an item, the items' instructions and <br /> s procedures shall be modified and supplemented by the Contractor to reflect all field <br /> 10 changes or information requiring field data. , <br /> 11 <br /> 12 D. Before final acceptance of the project, the Contractor shall bind all five sets in appropriately <br /> 13 labeled, expanding 8-1/2 inch by 11-inch post-type binders. Binders shall have permanent <br /> 14 covers, separators with index tabs, and transparent loose leaf sheet protectors. Each ' <br /> 15 completed binder shall contain only that material which can be held with the posts in the <br /> 16 non-expanded position. A complete table of contents listing all items and their location in <br /> 17 the set shall be included in each binder. For ready reference, the Contractor shall compile <br /> 18 a complete list of manufacturer's local representatives for each item provided. The operating <br /> 19 personnel shall be instructed in the care of the system in accordance with the approved <br /> 20 instructions. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 3.10 SAFETY <br /> 23 <br /> 24 A. The Contractor shall execute and maintain his work so as to avoid injury or damage to any <br /> 25 person or property. All work shall be done in conformance with the State of California <br /> 26 Division of Industrial Safety and OSHA Standards. <br /> 27 <br /> za B. Safety precautions as applicable shall include, but not be limited to, adequate life <br /> 29 protection, and life saving equipment; adequate illumination for underground and night <br /> 30 operations; instructions in accident prevention for all employees; such machinery guards, <br /> 31 walkways, scaffolds, ladders, bridges, and other safety devices, equipment and wearing <br /> 32 apparel as are necessary or lawfully required to prevent accidents or injuries, and the <br /> 33 proper inspection and maintenance of all safety measures. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 C. The names and telephone numbers of at least two medical doctors practicing in the vicinity <br /> 36 and the telephone number of the local ambulance shall be prominently displayed adjacent <br /> 37 to all telephones. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 3.11 TRENCH SAFETY <br /> 40 <br /> 41 A. Attention is directed to the provisions of Section 6705 of the Labor Code of the State of , <br /> 42 California. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 B. Excavation for any trench 5 feet or more in depth shall not begin until the Contractor has <br /> 45 received approval from the Engineer, of the Contractor's detailed plan for worker protection <br /> 46 from the hazards of caving ground during the excavation of such trench. Such plan shall <br /> 47 be submitted at least 5 days before the Contractor intends to begin excavation for the <br /> 48 trench and shall show the details of the design of shoring, bracing, sloping, or other <br /> 49 provisions to be made for worker protection during such excavation.
