Monitoring: <br /> -The County shall periodically inspect the excavation to ensure compliance with <br /> minimum setbacks. Modifications shall be required of any work that does not <br /> meet the approved specifications. <br /> Mitieation 6. - If the water table is intersected by the extraction pits, the applicant has <br /> indicated that the pits would be dewatered prior to continued excavation. If <br /> groundwater is encountered, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board <br /> (RWQCB) shall be notified to evaluate the proposed disposal of groundwater. A Waste <br /> Discharge Permit may be required from the RWQCB. If water from the pit is <br /> discharged to the Mokelumne River, a National Pollution Discharge Elimination System <br /> (NPDES) permit will be required. <br /> Implementation Responsibilities: <br /> -If water table is encountered, Applicant submits an excavation plan for operation, <br /> including dewatering and disposal of water to the County Department of Public <br /> Works and the RWQCB. <br /> -County reviews plan in consultation with RWQCB and either approves plan, requires <br /> modifications, or denies approval of excavation within the water table. <br /> Schedule: <br /> -The plan shall be submitted to the County immediately upon, or prior to encountering <br /> the water table. <br /> -Excavation shall not proceed within the water table until the plan is approved. <br /> Monitoring: <br /> -County shall periodically inspect the quarry excavation to ensure that excavation is <br /> not occurring within the water table. <br /> 123 <br />
