Quarterly Monitoring Report- Fourth Quarter 2014 Page 5
' OAK RIDGE WINERY
WKA No. 6364.07
December 18, 2014
' 6.2 Site Groundwater Quality
Results of fourth quarter 2014 analysis of groundwater from the Oak Ridge Winery process
waste treatment facility compare to applicable water quality standards as follows:
• Ammonia as nitrogen does not have a water quality standard established by
MRP Order No. 05-01-172 or by EPA MCI-s; however, ammonia contributes to
' total nitrogen. Ammonia as nitrogen was detected in concentrations ranging
between 1.1 and 5.0 mg/L in MW1, MW2, MW3, and MW4.
' • Potassium does not have a water quality standard established by MRP Order No.
05-01-172 or by EPA Primary or Secondary MCI-s; however, it contributes to
total dissolved solids levels. Potassium was detected in water samples from
' each of the MW1, MW2, MW3 and MW 4 monitoring wells at concentrations
between 17 and 38 mg/I.
• Nitrate-as-nitrogen was not detected in any groundwater sample above the
laboratory reporting limit of 0.50 mg/I.
• Groundwater pH has a Secondary MCL acceptable range, previously discussed
' between 6.5 to 8.5. The sample from MW3 showed a pH of 6.38. The water
samples in the remaining wells ranged in pH from 6.55 pH units to 6.88 pH units
' all of which are within the Secondary MCL acceptable range.
• TKN as nitrogen does not have a defined acceptable or actionable limit in
' groundwater; however, concentrations may contribute to TDS and may produce
oxygen deficient groundwater conditions. TKN is also indicative of incomplete
oxidation of bio-available nitrogen compounds discharged to the process
wastewater treatment system. TKN was detected in samples collected from all
wells this quarter at concentrations ranging between 2.8 to 4.6 mg/L.
• TDS concentrations in samples collected for this monitoring event were below
the criterion established by MRP Order No. 05-01-172 (450 mg/1)with
concentrations ranging between 120 to 410 mg/I.
' 7.0 EVALUATION OF CONSTITUENTS OF CONCERN
The following presents a discussion of water quality trends at the site including a statistical data
' analysis per Title 27 Section 20415(e) (8) (A)-(E).
