reported concentrations above historical highs for various constituents; however this
is the first time the well has been sampled following a full purge since January 2012.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were not reported above laboratory detection
' limits in all associated groundwater monitoring wells during the September 2015
monitoring event, with the exception of chloroform reported to be present in wells
MW-4, MW-6, MW-9 and MW-10.
' • Total Coliform Bacteria—was reported to be below laboratory reporting limits for all
monitoring wells during the September 2015 groundwater monitoring event, with the
' exception of MW-9. Coliform is ubiquitous in the environment and has been detected
intermittently in various monitoring wells at the site.
• Fecal Coliform Bacteria was reported to be below laboratory reporting limits for all
monitoring wells during the September 2015 groundwater monitoring event.
Laboratory analytical results from sampling points R-I and R-2 were within historical
range for all constituents, including fecal and total coliform.
1 Ground Zero has made recommendations to:
• Continue the quarterly groundwater and surface water monitoring program according
to the Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) (Order No. 5-00-142) and the
corresponding Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP).
' 2.0 INTRODUCTION
Historical Site Activities
The Site is located on the north side of the Stanislaus River, approximately 1.5 miles south-
southwest of the City of Escalon. The City of Escalon operates the WWTP, which receives
domestic wastewater from the City of Escalon and industrial wastewater from food
processors. Storm runoff is conveyed to the WWTP through the industrial pipeline. The
' domestic and industrial wastewaters are treated and disposed of in separate ponds. Initially
there were three groundwater monitoring wells associated with the WWTP.
' On April 17, 2000, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (CRWQCB) issued
a letter requiring the installation of four additional groundwater monitoring wells at the Site.
Tentative waste discharge requirements (WDRs) were also issued, which set guidelines for
' monitoring of the wastewater ponds, the groundwater and the surface water.
On May 2, 2000, Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) prepared a work plan to install four
' additional groundwater monitoring wells at the Site. On May 23, 2000, GTI submitted an
addendum to this work plan that addressed items requested by the CRWQCB. Six
monitoring wells were installed on July 10, 2000 and July 11, 2000 by GTI and V&W
Drilling of Isleton, California.
On October 17, 2001, GTI prepared a work plan for the installation of three up-gradient
' monitoring wells and the abandonment of one monitoring well. An addendum was prepared
on December 10, 2001. The work proposed in the work plan and subsequent addendum was
1 Ground Zero Analysis,Inc. 2
894 3'J QMR 15
