i <br /> 6 INC <br /> Hydrocarbon impacted soil is depicted in cross-section on Exhibit 16 and lateral extent <br /> is depicted on Exhibit 17 The hydrocarbon sod impacted is limited to a maximum depth <br /> of approximately 10 feet and a lateral extent of approximately 15 feet Approximately 30 <br /> cubic yards of soil has been impacted by the hydrocarbon compounds <br /> Chlorinated hydrocarbon impacted soil is depicted in cross-section on Exhibit 16 and <br /> lateral extent is depicted on Exhibit 17 The chlorinated hydrocarbon sod impacted <br /> appears to be limited to a maximum depth of 6 5 feet Lateral extent appears to be <br /> limited in all directions except to the south (Exhibit 17) WZI estimates the chlorinated <br /> hydrocarbon impacted sod is not present south of Boring D-3 or at greater depth based <br /> on the subsurface concentrations and distribution pattern <br /> The hydrocarbon impacted soil is most likely the result of surface spillage as no <br /> underground or above ground storage tanks have ever been reportedly stored in this <br /> part of the facility No further work to define the lateral or vertical extent of hydrocarbon <br /> impacted soil is warranted at this site <br /> 6.5 Stockpiling of Hydrocarbon and Chlorinated Hydrocarbon Soil <br /> Hydrocarbon and chlorinated hydrocarbon impacted sal was stockpiled on a sheet of <br /> visqueen 10 mil thick and covered pending characterization sampling of the sod The soil <br /> will be maintained in this condition until sufficient sampling to adequately characterize the <br /> hydrocarbon and chlorinated hydrocarbon constituents in the soil has been conducted <br /> and appropriate permits are issued for remedial action by the appropriate governmental <br /> entities During this period the contaminated sod will be inspected on a weekly schedule <br /> to insure stability and integrity of the pads <br /> 12270010 013 Page 24 <br />
