■VZ1 INC <br /> shown on Exhibit 2 as Areas "C" and "D" Area "C" is a vacant lot located between the <br /> LCN Warehouse and a former private residence located to the north which has since <br /> been removed Area "D" is a paved parking area to the north of the LCN office building <br /> In addition, it is WZI's understanding that wastes from LCN's "Solvent Recovery Still"were <br /> reportedly disposed to the ground surface at an unknown time(s) in the area designated <br /> as Area "A" as shown on Exhibit 2 <br /> Area "B" shown on Exhibit 2 is a former gravel sump Apparently, a steel drum with the <br /> end removed was placed below the ground surface and filled with gravel It is our <br /> understanding that some of LCN's process materials were reportedly placed in this gravel <br /> sump <br /> On June 27, 1985 the State Department of Health Services (DHS) issued an "Order <br /> Specifying Schedule for Compliance or Correction" to LCN Among the findings of DHS <br /> were <br /> • Still bottom residues, containing detectable concentrations of 1,1,1- <br /> trichloroethane (TCA), acetone,toluene, and diacetone alcohol,were <br /> reported to have been disposed on the ground in the LCN parking <br /> lot area, <br /> • In 1984, sampling of the concrete tank by DHS revealed detectable <br /> levels of TCA, 2-methyl-2 butanol, and acetone <br /> As a result of DHS sampling and investigation, LCN was ordered to submit to DHS for <br /> approval a proposed soil sampling plan for the Lodi facility parking lot (Area "D") and any <br /> other area where waste related chemicals have been disposed, submit to DHS a report <br /> outlining the nature and extent of impacted soil at the Lodi Facility, and prepare a <br /> proposed remedial action pian, if warranted <br /> Ji <br /> 12270010 013 Page 6 <br />
