..p#
i..
water IeveI will then be obtained using an electronic sounder. Subsequently, at least three casing
volumes (up to a maximum of five casing volumes) will be purged from the well. Periodic
measurements of the temperature,
equipment, and samples will be collected when these 1parameters ectrical reach reluctance atively constll be ant values.
e with field
A clean, decontaminated Teflon® or acrylic bailer will be used to collect the water samples for
laboratory chemical analysis.
- Groundwater samples will be preserved and transported under chain-of-custody procedures to a
California DHS-certified laboratory for PHC analysis. Groundwater samples will be analyzed for
concentrations of BTEX using EPA Method 8020, and TPHg using EPA Method 8015m. In
addition, all samples will be analyzed for the following oxygenated compounds using EPA Method
8260;tertiary butyl alcohol(TBA), methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
„F ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE), and tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME).
Decontamination of sampling equipment will be performed before arriving at the site and between
each well as follows:
Step 1 Wash with detergent solution (non-phosphate or lab-grade detergent);
Step 2 Control water rinse;
Step 3 Rinse with an organic desorbing agent (isopropanol, acetone, hexane, or
_ methanol), and;
Step 4 Rinse with deionized water.
Alternatively,in lieu of decontamination of sampling equipment, disposable bailers and cotton rope
may be used.
3.3 SUPPLY WELL SURVEY
As requested by the PHS/EHD, a survey of domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial, and other
wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the site will be conducted. The survey will include a review of
records on file with the Department of Water Resources, California Water Service (the local
municipal water supplier),the Port, and nearby industries. In addition, a physical search of the area
60 will be conducted to visually identify supply wells in the area.
Locations of all wells identified within the 2,000-foot radius will be depicted on an appropriately
+-• scaled map. Construction details of wells located will be supplied when available. Based on the
information collected during the survey, the influence of supply-well pumping on contaminant
migration will be evaluated as well as identifying and evaluating public or environmental health
`r threats or impacts from contaminant migration.
7 PHILIP P.
