-13-
9 . Place probe in the atmosphere to be monitored. If the needle
moves to the upper limit of the scale, change the CALIBRATE
switch to the next position.
9 . 2. 2 Shutdown
1. Close the H2 supply valve and the H2 tank valve.
2. Move the INSTR switch and PUMP switch to OFF.
3. Instrument is now in shutdown configuration.
9 . 3 TLV Sniffer
9 . 3 . 1 Battery Check
1 . Turn MODE SELECTOR knob from OFF position to BATT TEST posi-
tion. The meter pointer should come to rest in the BATTERY GOOD
range of the scale.
9 .3 . 2 Setting Meter Pointer to Zero
1. Attach the air sampling probe connector to the instrument
intake on the left side of the case by pulling back the spring
collar of the connector and pressing the connector over the
intake.
2. Place the instrument in the position in which the meter indi-
cation will be read.
Note: Heat distribution from active and reference fillaments of
the detector sensor changes from vertical to horizontal position.
The resulting change in electrical balance between elements
causes a shift in pointer zero from one position to the other .
3 . Set MODE SELECTOR switch to ppm x 100 and operate the instru-
ment for 10 minutes to allow the circuits to stabilize.
4 . In fresh air , set the ZERO ADJUST knob at the midpoint ( five
full turns from either extreme position) .
5. Turn the coarse adjustment screw to move the meter pointer to
zero on the meter scale.
6 . Turn the MODE SELECTOR switch to the ppm x 10 position and
turn the ZERO ADJUST knob to set the pointer to zero.
7 . Turn the MODE SELECTOR switch to the ppm x 1 position and
turn the ZERO ADJUST knob to set the pointer to zero.
