Delineation and Destruction Work Plan for Well B-1
7 INVESTIGATION-DERIVED WASTE
The liquid waste generated during the well destruction activities will consist of displaced
groundwater and decontamination water. The groundwater and decontamination water will be
temporarily stored in sealable 55-gallon drums or the on-site poly tank, and then transferred to the
on-site treatment system to undergo treatment at the conclusion of the project.
The solid waste generated during the well destruction activities includes PVC pipe, filter pack, and
soil cuttings. The PVC pipe, filter pack, and soil cuttings from the well destruction will be disposed
of in a roll-off bin. The solid waste will be temporarily stored on site pending sample results to
determine disposal requirements. The waste will be analyzed in accordance with specific
requirements of the disposal facility. It is anticipated that the solid waste generated will be disposed
of off site within 90 days.
Used personal protective equipment, such as nitrile gloves, will be double-bagged and placed in a
municipal refuse dumpster.
8 QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES
The quality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC) measures are designed to ensure that the site
complies with the delineation and destruction work plan and applicable regulatory requirements.
This project includes preparing this delineation and destruction work plan, drilling three
exploratory borings, sampling soil and groundwater, destroying well B-1, analyzing IDW for
disposal, and preparing a delineation and destruction completion report. The QA/QC system will
be implemented as discussed in the following subsections and in conformance with the site-
specific water quality sampling and analysis plan (Dudek&Associates 2004).
8.1 Quality Control Requirements
The QC procedures identified in the SW-846 methodologies and the specified EPA methods will
be followed in the laboratory and the field.
8.1.1 Field Quality Control Requirements
Field QC samples will be collected to assess the soil waste disposal for IDW. One duplicate soil
sample will be collected from one of the temporary borings. No duplicate samples will be collected
for the IDW soil samples.
8.1.2 Laboratory Quality Control Requirements
Laboratory QC samples are analyzed as part of standard laboratory practice. The laboratory
monitors the precision and accuracy of the results of its analytical procedures through analysis of
10886-7
DUDEK 11 January 2019
