• KLEINFELDER
Please note additional subsurface samples may be analyzed based upon the analytical
results and DTSC requirements. Samples being held at the laboratory will be frozen for
future potential analyses.
DTSC personnel will be notified at least 7 days in advance of sampling and will be
allowed to obtain duplicate samples at their discretion.
6.6. QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES
An integral part of the PEA sampling and analysis plan is the quality assurance/quality
control (QA/QC) program to document the reliability and compatibility of the data
generated during the PEA.
In order for the PEA sampling and analysis plan to provide representative and reliable
data for the assessment, an integrated quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC)
program will be incorporated into the PEA investigation. The investigation will acquire a
variety of data, which will be analyzed for several chemicals/elements at the site. The
data will be evaluated to assess whether the level of the reported concentrations is
acceptable for the human health screening evaluation.
The following reviews will be conducted:
• Analytical Method: review the appropriate methods for the specific
compounds of interest.
• Analytical Detection Limits: detection limits of a particular method will be
reviewed in order to check that low enough limits are technically available at
the appropriate percent reliability. This allows non-detected results to be
applied to levels of interest in the screening evaluation. The following Table 6
summarizes the proposed reporting limits, method detection limits and
analytical Methods:
TABLE 6
REPORTING LIMITS
Analyte Reporting Limit Method Method
Detection Limit
Aluminum 20 mg/kg 12 mg/kg 6010
Nickel 1.0 mg/kg 0.21 mg/kg 6010
Copper 1.0 mg/kg 0.3 mg/kg 6010
Total Chromium 1.0 mg/kg 0.3 mg/kg 6010
Chromium 6 10 4q/kg 2.9 4g/kg 7199
Cyanide 0.5 mg/kg 0.09 mg/k2 mg/k29010
57252.T02/ST05R999/DH:Iv Page 19 of 29
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc.
