The interior areas of the site building consist of a small concrete-floored warehouse (Photo 4),
and office space (Photo 3). Steel beams on concrete slab foundations support the structure.
3.3.1 Hazardous Substances
At the time of the site inspection, small amounts of hazardous substances were observed at the
subject property. Resin Compound was present sealed in 5-gallon plastic drums and stacked on a
pallet inside the warehouse (Photo 5). According to Mr. Vanorder, the Resin Compound is not
used at the facility but is distributed to owners of crushing equipment for use in equipment
maintenance. A Material Safety Data Sheet is included as Appendix C to this report. No other
hazardous substances were observed during the site reconnaissance.
3.3.2 Hazardous Wastes
The facility reportedly does not currently generate any hazardous waste.
3.3.3 Underground/Aboveground Storage Tanks
Four 2500-gallon aboveground storage tanks were observed on the subject property. These steel
tanks contain water used for fire prevention purposes. The tanks must remain on site for the
purposes of fire protection. The tanks are filled by the onsite groundwater supply well that
• automatically pumps water into the tanks. No underground storage tanks were reported to exist
onsite.
3.3.4 Drums and Containers
Three empty 55-gallon drums were observed at the subject property. According to Mr. Vanorder
the drums have not been used to store hazardous materials. There was no evidence of staining
around the drums.
3.3.5 PCB-Containing Equipment
No PCB-containing equipment was observed on the subject property.
3.3.6 Solid Waste
Solid waste is currently generated at the subject property and placed in a dumpster contracted for
disposal with Sunrise Sanitation.
3.3.7 Drains and Sumps
No drains or sumps were observed on the subject property.
J:\05930191\ESA.doe 6
