5.0 ADJOINING AND SURROUNDING LAND USE
Dames & Moore performed a visual inspection of readily visible areas of adjacent properties.
The following description of the current uses of adjoining properties and surrounding properties
of potential environmental concern is based on Dames & Moore's observations on the date of the
inspection.
5.1 CURRENT USES OF ADJOINING PROPERTIES
The subject property is bound to the north by the Ring warehouse, beyond which lies vacant
land; to the west by a small residential dwelling and barn; to the east by Parex warehouse and
parking lot; and to the south by East Roth Road and the United State Armed Forces Reserve
Center. Based on the reported hydraulic gradient to the soutwest, properties to the northeast of
the subject property appear to be hydrologically upgradient and would, therefore, be most likely
to impact the subject property via groundwater migration. Depending on the type of operations
at Ring and Parex, the potential exists to create a Recognized Environmental Condition.
However, Ring and Parex were not identified on any of the databases searched. The Sharpe
Army Depot at the United States Armed Forces Reserve, located south of the subject property,
was identified on the databases searched. The facility is described in Section 7.1.1.
5.2 SURROUNDING PROPERTIES OF POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL
' CONCERN
Based on the visual inspection of readily visible areas of adjacent properties, Dames & Moore
did not identify surrounding adjacent properties that are likely to have created a Recognized
Environmental Concern on the subject property.
J:\05930191\ESA.doc 8
