6.0 HISTORIC SITE AND SURROUNDING PROPERTY CONDITIONS <br /> The history of land use on and near the subject property was determined from interviews, review <br /> of historic aerial photographs, historical topographic maps, and the other documents referenced <br /> in Section 7.0. <br /> 6.1 CURRENT AND PRIOR OWNERSHIP <br /> According to Mr. Bill Vanorder, Jim Robinson is the current owner of the subject property. A <br /> title search was not included as part of the authorized scope of services. Prior ownership <br /> information was not available at the time of this Phase I ESA. <br /> 6.2 INTERVIEWS <br /> Dames & Moore interviewed Mr. Bill Vanorder, of the Spaulding Equipment Company, <br /> concerning current and historic uses of the subject property. Mr. Vanorder has been with the <br /> company for 3 years. According to Mr. Vanorder the subject property has been used as a <br /> warehouse and distribution facility since approximately 1987. Mr. Vanorder was not familiar <br /> with the use of the subject property prior to 1987 nor was he familiar with any prior use or <br /> storage of hazardous materials on the subject property. <br /> ' Dames & Moore also interviewed Mr. John Pedrie, of Lee & Associates, regarding past and <br /> present use of the subject property. Mr. Pedrie was able to provide details pertaining to the size <br /> and age of the property. <br /> 6.3 AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS <br /> Historical aerial photography covering the site for the years 1968, 1979, 1990, 1992 and 1996 <br /> were reviewed monoscopically to identify potential sources of visible contamination at the time <br /> the photographs were taken. The following observations were made: <br /> 1968 The subject property appears to be vacant undeveloped land used for agricultural <br /> purposes. The majority of the surrounding areas are undeveloped while Armed <br /> Forces housing is observed to the south of the subject property. East Roth Road <br /> appears paved in its current location and configuration. The nearest surface water <br /> to the subject property is the San Joaquin River to the west. The remaining <br /> surrounding areas are undeveloped vacant land with a runway observed as part of <br /> the Armed Forces base to the south. <br /> 1979 No changes are observed to the subject property since the 1968 aerial photograph. <br /> The surrounding areas appear increasingly developed with residential and <br /> commercial structures. <br /> 10 <br /> J:\05930191\ESA.doc 9 <br />
