INTER,`w4
ONAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Each soil sample retained for analysis will be described, checked for the presence of
hydrocarbons, and promptly sealed with aluminum foil, plastic end caps and tape. The
samples will then be placed in a "ziploc" bag, sealed with security tape and hand delivered to
the onsite Iaboratory. Chain-of-custody records will be maintained for all samples.
The samples will be analyzed utilizing the methods and detection limits shown below:
Detection Limit
Analysis name Method (ppm)
i*.
BTEX EPA modified 8020
(benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, total 0.005
xylenes)
TPH as diesel DHS GC-FID
modified 8015 1
e
'Lower detection limits will be reported if attainable.
NOTE: TPH = Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
s,
Upon arrival to the laboratory, the samples' condition will be checked and any
nonconformaties will be noted. Copies of signed laboratory reports and sample condition
forms will be presented in the subsequent Site Assessment Report.
2.3 Borehole Groundwater Sampling
Boreholes will be drilled to a depth of 50 feet at which time a 10 foot section of 0.010 slot,
2" diameter PVC well screen attached to 40 feet of 2" diameter PVC well casing will be
installed through the center of the auger. The auger will be removed and groundwater will be
16, allowed to equilibrate within the open borehole. An electronic interface probe will be utilized
to check for the presence of free phase hydrocarbons.
A new disposable bailer will be lowered through the temporary well screen and a grab sample
of groundwater will be collected. Each water sample will be placed in appropriate containers,
preserved and supplied by the laboratory. Care will be taken that no headspace is present in
sample bottles which will be analyzed for volatile organic compounds. Once the samples are
t" collected, the bottles will be placed in "ziploc" bags and sealed with security tape. The
L MZ09-28-92/ENG/9783.MER 5
i
4
