(AGE) and has the following comments.
In the report AGE discusses the quarterly groundwater monitoring event conducted at this site on
December 21, 2004 and the status of the soil vapor extraction/air sparging (SVE/AS) remediation
system that was in operation through March 2005. AGE recommends discontinuing operation of
the SVE/AS remediation system, continued quarterly monitoring of the groundwater contamination
and preparation of a closure report for this site. AGE bases these recommendations on declining
concentrations of contaminants in both groundwater and influent air samples.
SJC/EHD agrees with these recommendations. However, prior to preparation of a closure report a
work plan must be submitted for the installation of confirmation soil borings to verify the
effectiveness of the remediation system in the area of previously documented soil contamination.
This work plan is due for submittal no later than September 23, 2005. In addition, as previously
directed, routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling must continue at this site until
directed otherwise by this agency, and must include all wells. As previously directed (SJC/EHD
correspondence dated March 6, 2003), monitoring well MW-3, which has been inaccessible since
February 2001, must be located, inspected, repaired if necessary and returned to the sampling
schedule. Further reports from this site that do not contain data from samples collected from MW-3
will not be accepted or reviewed by this agency.
California Code of Regulations Title 23 Sections 3890-3895 require responsible parties of
contaminated sites to electronically submit reports of their site data to Geotracker, the State Water
Resources Control Board information website. Reports from your site have not been submitted to
Geotracker since January 2003. Please proceed with the required submittals of site data collected
since January 2003. If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at(209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHSMargaret Lagorio, Supervising REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: James Barton, CVRWQCB
William Little, AGE
