. 16 May 2001
AGE-NC Project No 98--0511
The soil probe borings will be advanced to an estimated depth of 50 feet bsg to assess the vertical
extent of impacted soil Total depths of probe bonngs will be based on field observations and field
screening using an organic vapor monitor(OVM)
Soil samples will be collected from four of the probe borings at five-foot intervals from ground
surface to the total depth At the former UST location, soil samples will be collected at five-foot
intervals beginning at 35 feet bsg(base of MW-5)to the total depth of the boring Field procedures
for advancement of probe borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Sections 4 1 and
Section 4 2, respectively
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-
certified laboratory for
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Methods 5030 and 8015 Modified,
• Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons-benzene,toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX)
• with methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and
• Fuel oxygenates di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), MTBE,
tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) tertiary butanol (TBA), methanol and ethanol in
accordance with EPA Method 8260
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations
3 3 IN-SITU GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
At the total depth of each of the soil probe bonngs, grab ground water samples will be collected and
analyzed to determine the vertical extent of impacted ground water In-situ ground water sample
collection procedures are presented in Section 4 3
Selected groundwater samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for
• TPH-g in accordance with EPA Methods 3510 and 8015 Modified,
• BTEX with MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 60218020, and
. • DIPE,ETBE,MTBE,TAME,TBA,methanol and ethanol in accordance with EPA Method
8260 Modified
Advanced GeoEnvi ron mental,Inc
