ARCAUIS Site Investigation Work Plan
401 North San Jose Street,Stockton,California
Soil samples will be sealed, labeled, and placed in an Ice-filled cooler and shipped under appropriate chain-
of-custody protocols to Lancaster Laboratories,Inc. in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
3.5 Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation
Four shallow groundwater monitoring wells will be installed, Proposed tentative locations of the wells are
shown on Figure 2. .Well locations may be revised based on the findings of the CPT investigation. Planned
well completion details are shown on Figure 3
An air-knife will be used to clear each borehole from ground surface to 8 ft one inch bgs.Following air-
knifing activities, each borehole will be installed using a truck-mounted drill rig with 8.25-Inch outer dlameter
(Op)hollow stem augers. During Installation of each soll boring, continuous two-foot stainless steel split-
spoon
plitspoon samples of soil will be collected per ASTM Method D-1586. Continuous soil samples will be collected
from ground surface to a target depth;final depths will be determined in the field. Each discrete Interval will
be logged for stratigraphic properties, including soil type, color, and moisture content..In addition, field
observations will be noted regarding observed odor, staining, and relative volatile organic compound
concentrations as measured with a photolonization detector(PID)from soil head space, Soli samples will
be collected from approximately every 5 ft from the borings. The exact sample depths will be selected in the
field based on geologic information and observations of potential staining and/or odor,
The soil samples will be analyzed for the following constituents by a California-certified laboratory.
• Title 221CAM17 metals by EPA 60106
• TPH-GRO,TPH-DRO,TPH-mo by USEPA Method 8015 Modified
• BTEX, MTBE, 1,2-DCA, ethanol, DIPS, ETRE, TAME,TBA and EDB by USEPA Method 8260D
Soil samples will be sealed, labeled, and placed in an ice-filled cooler and shipped under appropriate chain-
of-custody protocols to Lancaster Laboratories, Inc. in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
3.5.1 Monitoring Weil Construction
Each monitoring well wig be constructed with two-inch outer diameter(OD)schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride
(PVC)casing. Solid riser will be Installed from the top of the screen to approximately three Inches bgs for
completion with a flush-mount well cover. The screen will be constructed with two-inch-OD 0.010-slot PVC
V-wire casing. Centralizers will be installed every 10 feet to center the casing In the borehole. The annular
space will be filled with No.2/12 Monterey Sand to two feet above the top of the well screen.A hydrated
bentonite slurry seal measuring two feet in thickness will be placed above the sand pack and allowed to
e
