ARCADIS Site Investigation Work Plan
401 North San Jose Street, Stockton,Califomia
hydrate for at least 30 minutes. The remaining annular space will then be tremie-grouted with neat cement to
about six inches bgs. Each well will be fitted with a locking well cap.
A trafflo-rated 12-inch-diameter flush-mounted well box will be installed in concrete at each location. The
total well completion depth and screen Interval will be determined based on observations in the field.
3.6.2 Equipment Decontamination
Down-hole sampling equipment will be washed with Aiconox®or similar solution between samples. Down-
hole and sampling equipment will be steam-cleaned following the complef*n of driUing activities,
3.5.3 Sall Cuttings and Rinsate Water
Soil cuttings will be containerized in 55-gallon drums or stockpiled and temporarily stored on Site pending
characterization and off-sile disposal. Soil cuttings will be removed by Chevron's disposal contractor to an
appropriate disposal facility.Water generated during steam cleaning and sampling of the borings will be
temporarily stored in Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums pending transport by
Chevron's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal or treatment facility.
3,5.4 Well Surveying
A California State Licensed Surveyor will survey the newly installed wells. The wall casing will be surveyed
to the nearest 0.01 feet in elevation to the existing site elevation datum located with respect to the California
Coordinate System, and latitude and longitude In degrees, minutes, and seconds.
3.5.3 Well Development
Following completion of well installatlon activities, each well will be developed to verify that the well functions
properly and to remove residual particulates that may have settled in the wells during installation.Wells will
be developed at least one week following installation to allow annular sealants to set. Additional time will
also allow the formation to stabilize and to equilibrate with the well construction materials.
3.6 Groundwater Monitoring
Groundwater elevation data and groundwater samples will be collected from the newly installed wells
following well development and on a quarterly basis for one year to evaluate potential seasonal trends in
TRH concentrations and groundwater gradient. The potential presence and thickness of free-phase
hydrocarbons will be evaluated using an ollwater interface meter. Water elevation data from the four wells
will be used to characterize the groundwater gradient and groundwater flow direction.
7
