A S S D C I A T E S I N C
with an air sparge test conducted on vapor well VW-2d The locations of these wells are shown on
Figure 2
Ung Term Va or Extraction Test
Vapor we VW-1 Il be used as the extraction well for the long term vapor extraction test VW-1 is
located between former tank numbers 1, 2, and 3 number 4 and is screened from 15 to 30 feet
below ground surface (bgs) Vapor well VW-2s, -2d, VW-4, VW-5s, and VW-5d and
groundwater wells MW-1, MW-3, and RW-1 wi a used as observation wells The IC engine will be
operated on VW-1 fo two to f'ourhours,+ while the chap a in induced vacuum response at the
observation wells is mora arm ee exlaction flow rate we adjusted until the maximurn-flowtie,
and applied vacuum can be determined After the IC engine has operaeed for 15 minutes,6 influent
ec
vapor sample will be collected for laboratory analysis A sond sampl will also be collected for
laboratory analysis after the IC engine has operated for 90 minutes, as well as eflluen apor sample
from the IC engine A photoionization detector (PID) will be used to monitor petroleum hydrocarbon
vapor concentrations from the extraction well during the vapor test and during vapor sampling
Air Sparge Test---, \
Vapor well VW-2d 11 be used as the air sparge well for the air sparge test VW-2d is located
adjacent tofo r tank number 3 Vapor ells VW-1, VW-2s,,VW4, VW-5s, and VW-5d and
groundwater well MW-1, MW-3, and 1-W-1 will be used as observation wells Pnor to beginning the
air sparge test, a vapor and groundwater sample will be collected from wells VW-2d and VW-3 to
establish baseline concentrations A 5 horsepower regenerative will be operated on VW-2d for
two hours as the blower injects air and helium into the well Helium used as a tracer in the
grain water to aid in the determination of an elective radius o i e Helium concentrations
will be measured in the observation wells with a helium detecto After the test is completed, vapor and
groundwater samples will be collected from well VW-2d an VW to evaluate the reduction or
increase in petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations rk
 UAB I
Short Term Vapor Extraction Test in Coniunction With Air S ar a Test
A short term vapor extraction test will be con in conjunction with an air sparge test using well
-5 as the vapor extraction well and w l VW-2d the air sparge well The remaining wells will
be used as observation wells This test performed to collect additional data to assist in
determining the effective radius of influence, and to determine the petroleum hydrocarbon
concentrations extracted from these wells The IC engine will be operated on well VW-5s and the
blower will be operated on well VW-2d for 30 minutes Induced vacuum changes will be monitored in
the observation wells After 30 minutes of operation a vapor and groundwater sample will be collected
from well VW-5s for laboratory analysis
w 162574162574 011943671veswkp doc 3
