Former Unocal Service Station No. 0187
May 11, 1995
Enterprises, Civic Center Parking, and Traverso Bros. Shell are located at 141 North El
Dorado Street, and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is located at 130 North El Dorado
Street. The Weber Enterprises site is listed on the State and Regional LUST lists and the
Cortese list. The Goodyear Tire and Rubber and the Civic Center Parking sites are listed
on both the State UST and Cortese lists. The Traverso Bros. Shell site is listed on the
Cortese list. The substance released at the Weber site was gasoline, and groundwater
appears to have been affected. The remedial status is listed as preliminary assessment.
The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Civic Center Parking, and Traverso Bros. Shell
do not appear to have released hydrocarbons.
SITE MITIGATION DATABASE
On March 13, 1995, GSI reviewed the Site Mitigation Database List (dated November 29,
1994) available at the offices of the SJCPHD. The list was reviewed for sites currently
under investigation by the SJCPHD with addresses listed in the 200 to 600 blocks of East
Channel, East Weber, or East Main Avenues, and the 200 or 300 blocks of North Sutter,
North California, North American or North Stanislaus Streets. No sites were found on this
list which fell within the above addresses.
SANBORN COMPANY MAP REVIEW
GSI reviewed Sanborn maps from 1895, 1917, 1950, and 1972. These were the only maps
available from the Sanborn Company which covered the subject site and vicinity. These
maps were reviewed to identify past uses of the properties in the vicinity of the subject site
to identif-v those that might have stored or used petroleum hydrocarbons.
1895 Map - No properties in the vicinity of the subject site were identified as likely to have
stored or used petroleum hydrocarbons.
1917 Map - Two 50-gallon gasoline tanks were identified at the property located at 522
East Lindsay, approximately 225 feet northeast of the subject site. A natural gas well was
identified at the property located at 231 North American Avenue, approximately 350 feet
southeast of the subject site. No other properties in the vicinity of the subject site were
identified as likely to have stored or used petroleum hydrocarbons.
1950 Map - Five service stations sites were identified in the vicinity of the subject site:
o 448 East Miner Avenue, located on the southwest corner of North California Street and
East Miner Avenue, approximately 100 feet south of the subject site across Miner
Avenue.
4827.04-1 3 GeoStrategies
