Eric Vielhauer
CA Dept. of Fish and Game
1701 Nimbus Road
Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 _
Subject: Workplan for Soil Excavation
Marina West Marine Services, 6651 Embarcadero Dr., Stockton, CA
Dear Lt. Vielhauer:
Enclosed is your copy of our Workplan for the subject facility. As we recently discussed over
the phone, a small of area of surface soil on the top of the levee contains elevated concentrations
of copper due to the presence of paint chips from boat cleaning. Our recent sampling suggests
that contamination is not present on the bank of the levee.
' Our Workplan proposes to excavate about 3 inches of soil from the top of the levee and dispose
of the material at a Class I landfill. It is important that this soil be removed before the fall rains
begin so that copper-contaminated soil doesn't wash over the levee. It is my opinion having
inspected the area, that the excavation will not impact the bank of the levee and therefore a
Section 1603 notice is not needed. Would you please review our Workplan and let us know as
soon as you can if the proposed work meets with your approval?
If you need any additional information please contact me at your earliest convenience.
Respectfully,
Ground Zero Analysis- Inc.
Gregory P.
