Legal discharges include:
Drinking fountain water
Air conditioning condensate
Fire Sprinkler System testing and dewatering
Visual observations of pollutants contaminating legal discharges:
Floatables: Materials that float on discharge water:
foam and paper cups, wood, chips, paper, wrappers, etc.
Turbidity. Dirt, soil, fine particles that cause run-off water to appear unclear.
Odor: Detection of any odors polluting discharge water.
Sheen: Oils, grease, hydrocarbons floating on discharge water.
Stains: Marks or permanent residue left in water path by storm water run-off.
Discoloration: Discoloration of discharge water path.
Source: The cause of the above conditions.
By: Individual performing inspection.
Date/Time: Date and time of visual inspection.
6.5 Storm Water Discharge Visual Observations TABLE VI
During the first hour of one storm event per month in the period from October 1
through May 30 (eight months) the Pollution Prevention Team Leader will examine all
storm water discharge points for: oil and grease, discolorations, turbidity, odor, and other
site specific pollutants. (See section 6.4, above, for explanations.) These observations
are to be recorded in Table VI. Observations are to be taken during normal daylight
business hours and must be preceded by 3 working days without storm events or run-off
discharge. Months without storm events do not require observation. Monthly log entries
are to be made indicating storm activity and if storm occurrence was during non-normal
working hours or non-day light hours.
Observations indicating the existence of possible storm water pollution shall be
investigated to determine the pollution sources. Evaluations to improve SWPPP and BMP
effectiveness shall be conducted.
6.6 Sampling and Analysis TABLE VII
Sampling shall occur within the first hour of the first storm event, and within the
first hour of any other storm event that has been preceded by three (3) working days
without storm water discharge from facility. If it is not possible to collect storm water
run-off samples during the first storm event, an explanation as to why the first storm was
not sampled is to be included in the annual report. NexFrame is to collect two storm
water discharges during each storm season. Collected samples may be consolidated due
to the proximity and similarity of the discharge streams.
NexFrame LP-WDID#5S30020707 November 1, 2007
SWPPP -15-
