NARP.ATXVE
facility operators will decrease the amount of lube oil waste generated at the
source by reducing the amount of spills and leaks that occur from operator
error and from reducing the amount of retrograde materials disposed of as
waste. A description of general annual training is provided in Section III -
General Administrative Controls.
The four-year numerical goal for lube oil is 90%.
CWC 223 - OILY WATER
Preventative Maintenance
Preventative maintenance on clarifiers (oil/water separators) is performed on
a scheduled basis. Preventative maintenance includes inspections of
equipment following each tank cleaning (pump out). The inspections will
consist of a thorough examination of equipment for cracks, leaks in piping,
rusting, or oxidized surfaces. These inspections will reduce the amount of
waste generated from spills and leaks. In addition, each department should
establish a schedule and procedures for prompt maintenance and repair of
equipment and systems when problems are noted during an inspection.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
SOPs will be developed and implemented by for painting operations, vehicle
maintenance and washing, and building maintenance. SOPS will be
developed with the intent of reducing the amount of waste generated from
operations discharging water into the oil water separator.
Managers/Supervisors will be responsible for the development and
implementation of the procedures. Review and assessment of SOPs for each
department will occur annually.
Tank Cleaning
Facility Services will decrease the frequency of cleaning (pumping out) the
clarifier tanks for the steam pit and bus wash to once a year. Large volumes
of water are pumped from the tanks during the process of removing sludge
from the tanks. By decreasing the frequency of the pumpouts, the amount of
oily water waste generated will be reduced.
Stockton Unified School District NETWORK ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS,INC.
Hazardous Waste Source Reduction Plan 18
