MAINTENANCE HAZARDOUS WASTE MANUAL <br />Chapter 2 <br />Page 22 <br />2.03 Inspection Requirements <br />A. Inspections <br />1. At least weekly, the supervisor in charge of the Maintenance Station shall inspect <br />areas where hazardous materials containers are stored, looking for any <br />deteriorating, damaged, or leaking containers. Storage tanks require a daily <br />inspection. <br />2. Inspections must be documented on the Daily/Weekly/Monthly Inspections Form <br />(HQ MTCE O1, 02). The Supervisor must maintain a file of all inspection forms <br />for thirty six (36) months to date. (See Appendix C: Hazardous Waste Label, <br />Storage, and Disposal.) <br />3. The person in charge shall remedy any container deterioration revealed during the <br />inspection. <br />4. If a leak or spill has occurred or is imminent, action to rectify the situation shall <br />be taken immediately. Follow your District Hazardous Materials Spill <br />Contingency Plan. <br />5. Report all releases or threatened releases to the DHM immediately. <br />Inspections from Regulatory Agencies <br />A. Any duly authorized representative of Officer of the local Health Department, the of <br />Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), or any other Certified Unified Program Agency / <br />Administrative Agency (CUPA/AA) may inspect the hazardous waste storage area. <br />This inspection may be carried out at any reasonable hour of the day. They may: <br />1. Take samples. <br />2. Photograph any waste storage container, container label, treatment process, or <br />storage site. <br />3. Interview the employees in the area. <br />B. The Supervisor of the facility shall accompany the authorized representatives during <br />the inspection. When an employee is approached for an inspection, they must <br />contact their Supervisor immediately and stay on site. The Supervisor shall contact <br />the DHM as soon as possible. <br />C. They may inspect any waste disposal records, test results, facility drainage, or <br />vehicles transporting hazardous wastes. They may ask to review training records. <br />July 2018 <br />
