<br />If the product label indicates the product has certain characteristics or
<br />contains certain ingredients, the product, if a waste item, must be
<br />managed as a hazardous waste. Remember, when in doubt; always
<br />manage the item as hazardous.
<br />The hazardous characteristics for Front Store merchandise are as follows:
<br />• Aerosols, Flammables and Combustibles
<br />Keywords on the label: flammable, combustible, contents under
<br />pressure, petroleum distillates, alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone,
<br />xylene, methanol, store under 120° F.
<br />• Toxics and Over -the -Counter Medicines
<br />Keywords on the label: toxic or poison, danger/warning, drug
<br />facts/active ingredients, keep out of reach of children, may cause skin
<br />irritation, avoid contact with skin, harmful or fatal if swallowed.
<br />• Corrosives, Chlorine, Bleaches, and Reactives
<br />Keywords on the label: corrosive, vapor harmful, harmful or fatal if
<br />swallowed, avoid contact with eyes or skin, hydrochloric acid, oxalic
<br />acid, chlorine, bleach, sodium hypochlorite, danger, causes burns,
<br />reactive, oxidizer.
<br />Examples of Front Store items that may have these characteristics include,
<br />but are not limited to, the following:
<br />Home Care: pest control products, cleaning/disinfecting products (e.g.,
<br />calcium, lime, and rust removers), furniture polishes, dishwashing
<br />detergents, oven cleaners, aerosols, laundry bleach, batteries;
<br />Car Care: oils and lubricants, brake fluid, antifreeze, cleaning products,
<br />aerosols, windshield wash solution, products containing petroleum
<br />distillates;
<br />Over -the -Counter Medicines: pain relievers, cough syrups, nicotine
<br />inhalers, patches, or gums;
<br />Cosmetics: perfumes, nail polishes and removers, alcohol -based cleaners;
<br />Personal Care: aerosol deodorants, hair care/bleaching products, hand
