2) Designate an area in the backroom or another secure indoor area. The
space should allow for the following:
a. Wall space for hanging StrongPak posters;
b. Space for StrongPak containers (if possible, do not stack
assembled boxes or plastic totes more than 2 high); and
c. Storage space nearby for extra StrongPak and spill cleanup
supplies.
3) Mount StrongPak posters on the wall at eye level.
4) Hang StrongPak ringed guide in the collection area so it is accessible
for colleagues to reference, if needed.
5) Build and set up StrongPak boxes or plastic totes. Additional details on
setting up your boxes or plastic totes are included in the Front Store
training course.
6) Place an applicable label on each container (i.e. "STORE," "PHOTO," or
"PHARMACY"). The "PHOTO" StrongPak container will only be used if
your store operates a wet photo lab. (Note that "STORE" labels in CA
will consist of 5 separate types.)
7) Complete labels with the Date, Store # and Address at the time of
setup.
8) Place "STORE" StrongPak container(s) in the designated collection
area, and ensure label is complete and clearly visible.
9) Place "PHOTO" StrongPak container in the photo lab if space allows. If
not, place it in the designated collection area with the "STORE"
StrongPak container(s). Ensure label is complete and clearly visible.
10) Place "PHARMACY" StrongPak container in the Pharmacy. The
"PHARMACY" StrongPak container must remain in the Pharmacy at all
times, including when the container becomes full. Ensure label is
complete and clearly visible.
DO NOT block access to the collection area. Aisle space must remain clear
at all times and labels must remain visible.
Labeling Collection Containers:
As described in the initial set-up of your waste collection area, each
StrongPak label must be completed with the Date, Store # and Address.
The labels provided by StrongPak for this program are not used as DOT
shipping labels and, therefore, are not required to list each individual
hazard of the waste. The StrongPak technician will properly segregate and
label waste prior to transporting waste to the transportation, storage, and
disposal facility (TSDF). After each StrongPak service event, the Store
Manager or other authorized colleague must assemble and properly label
new StrongPak boxes. If your store is using plastic totes, the totes must be
re -labeled immediately after pickup.
© CVS/pharmacy 11
CONFIDENTIAL BUSINESS INFORMATION
CVS000010352
