The single-wall pipes <br />are tested annually using USEPA and state testing methods and certified testing <br />companies. The monitoring systems are tested annually to certify they are in proper <br />working order. <br />Monitoring of each double-wall tank is performed on a continuous basis using an <br />electronic monitoring system. Leads activate an audible and/or visible alarm when <br />liquid is detected in the annular space between the containment walls. The station <br />manager, or his/her designee, inspects the monitoring system panels at the beginning <br />• each shift. Additionally, the <br />manufacturer may recommend cleaning the monitoring probes annually. The double - <br />walled tanks and piping were also inspected and • tested initially before <br />installation at the station.
