PHYSICAL HAZARDS <br />Physical hazards expected on the'ob site include those <br />J associated with excavation using <br />construction equipment. All personnel are warned and trained to stay at least 10 feet <br />away from the equipment unless they have made visual contact with the operator and <br />the operator has communicated permission to approach the equipment operators work <br />area. Equipment also generates a noise level in the immediate vicinity of the operating <br />equipment. Hearing protection will be required for those people working within 30 feet <br />of the equipment for more that one hour a day. A hazard exists where the equipment <br />operator may have to operate in areas that he or she can not see. In this case, one of the <br />other personnel will be stationed in a position to see both the operator and work area. <br />Standard hand signal will be used to communicate with the operator. <br />EXCAVATION <br />Jackhammers may be used to break up any asphalt/concrete in or around the job site. <br />Proper hearing protection will be used by the operator and by all people working within <br />30 feet of the equipment for more that one hour. <br />Allowable Exposure <br />Sound level (dbA) Times per day (hrs) <br />90 g <br />95 4 <br />100 2 <br />105 1 <br />110 ,5 <br />Protective goggles shall be worn by all personnel within 30 feet of this activity to avoid <br />injury to the eyes from flying debris. Personnel will not be allowed within the 30 foot <br />range unless they are needed to assist the operation. <br />* All activities within the scope of this project mast comply with all applicable federal <br />and California OSHA safety standards to reduce the risk of injury.
