T.A.B-JONN;NG SYSTEM AND FITTINGS--Thisexclu-
sive T.A.B
xcu'miveT-AB
stalled. It is the standard joining system for UL Listed
RED THREAD H pipe. Spigot and bonded -on couple ends
are threaded with special profile double -lead threads. Com-
bined with adhesive at time of assembly, T.A.B. Joint
promotes positive makeup and prevents backout during
cure, T.A.B. Joint is fast and easy to use.
Compatible fittings also listed by Underwriters'
Laboratories for underground handling `" petroleump°=
ucts. See back page for fittings configurations.
HANDLING AND STORAGE RED THREAD Upipe he
packaged in compact bundles of four to eight lengths.
/- Bundles of ''E= THREAD 11 pipe can be safely stored on
\
level ground or on racks with 10 -foot (or less) support
spacing. Reasonable care must beused inhandling RED
THREAD ffpipe. Dmnot drop orthrow RED THREAD I[
pipe on the gnound, or drop stones or other heavy ob-
jects onit.
CUTTINGM--RED THREAD 11 pipe is eascut with anily
ordinary hacksaw, using fine-toothed blade. For ease
u*tapering, the cut end should basquare oopossible.
TAPERINGn` -- When RED THREAD pipe is cut to
length onthe job site, the cut end must beretopered. The
field tapering tool pictured below is used for this purpose. Adaptable to two-, three-, and four -inch pipe, thetool quickly applies the proper taper by a shaving operation — similar to a pencil sharpener. Plain unthreadedfield-made tapers can be joined with factory installedthreaded TA.B. Joint coupled ends. Either factorymade T.A.B. spigots or field -made tapers maybe joined with belled fittings. For proper tapering, carefully follow the operating instructionsInc uded with the tapering tool kit.FIELD TAPERING TOOL
OJOINING PROCEDUREM _
1 Clean spigot and coupled ends
using the joint cleaner included
in adhesive kit.
