I <br /> 15 August 1997 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0254 <br /> IPage 4 of 7 <br /> I4.0 FINDINGS <br /> 41 STRATIGRAPHY AND DEPTH TO GROUND WATER <br /> Silty clay with a gray color was encountered from a depth of approximately 4 feet to 8 feet bsg Gray <br /> silty sand and gravel was distributed at depths between 8 and 12 feet bsg An additional layer of gray <br /> or tan silty clay was encountered at a depth of 12 to 15 feet bsg, while coarse and a gravel was again <br /> encountered at depths of 15 to 20 feet bsg Soil borings are depicted in Appendix A <br /> 4.2 HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL <br /> Soil samples collected from probe boring B 1 were not analyzed as field screening Indicated that the <br /> samples were not impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons Vapor readings rveie zero, and the soil had <br /> no discernable discoloration or hydrocarbon odor <br /> I <br /> TPH-g was detected In six soil samples collected from four of the probe bonngs, B2, B3,B- and B5 <br /> lie TPH-g <br /> was detected at concentrations as high as 5,000 ppm (B5-6') at depths of 8 feet bsg or less <br /> TPH-g concentrations detected in soil from depths greater than 8 feet bsg were as high as 550 ppm <br /> (B4-9') TPH-g was not detected at depths of 12 to 16 feet In the area of the former USTs, nor was <br /> TPH-g detected In the soil sample collected from B6 <br /> TPH-d was detected In the soil sample collected from probe boring 132 at a depth of 8 feet bsg at a <br /> Iconcentration of 510 ppm This boring was established in the former UST area <br /> BTE&X compounds were detected in soil samples collected from depths of less than 8 feet bsg at <br /> Iconcentrations ranging from 0 007 (ethyl benzene, B6-8') to 480 ppm (xylene, B5-6') BTE&X <br /> compounds were also detected at a depth of 12 feet bsg In borings B2, 133 and B5 No petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons or BTE&X compounds were detected in the soil sample collected from a depth of 16 <br /> feet bsg In the former UST area <br /> Laboratory results of soil samples analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons are$summarized In Table <br /> 1 -Analytical Results of Soil Samples The laboratory reports (MAI Laboratory ID 77994 to 78086), <br /> QA/QC reports and chains-of-custody are included In Appendix B <br /> 4 3 HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED GROUND WATER <br /> ITPH-g was detected In each of the eight grab ground water samples collected from the site at <br /> concentrations ranging from 220 to 240,000 ppb TPH-d was detected in both of the grab ground <br /> Advatrced GcoEnr iron mental Inc <br />
