Final Remedial Plan E-2 September 1992
3788 Tracy Boulevard Rev. : D1
Tracy, California P1745R005.WP
INVESTIGATION
In July, 1991, 16 soil borings were drilled in order to
' sample soil near the present underground storage tanks, the
associated piping and pumps, and the former waste-oil storage tank.
' Four of these borings were converted to groundwater monitoring
wells in order to sample the quality of the underlying groundwater.
' This investigation revealed: (A) oil-contaminated soil
remaining adjacent to the former waste-oil tank, estimated at 78
cubic yards; (B) oil-contaminated soil underlying above-ground
waste-oil drums, estimated at 23 cubic yards; and (C) gasoline
' contaminated soil affecting an estimated 500 cubic yards, the
possible result of earlier overfill of the tanks.
No petroleum hydrocarbons have been detected at the three
groundwater monitoring wells located at the perimeter of the
property, indicating that hydrocarbon contamination has not entered
the site from an off-site source and that no contamination has
' migrated from the site. Monitoring well MW-3, at the site of the
underground storage tanks, has contained hydrocarbons as high as
550 micrograms per liter (ug/1) , indicating impact of the
groundwater at the immediate site of the tanks.
REMEDIATION
Remediation has been planned for this site to address the
contamination of much of the affected soil by both oil and
gasoline. Alternate methods of treatment have been examined for
effectiveness of treatment, compliance with local regulation, and
cost effectiveness. In order to address these various needs, the
I
