EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
All sampling tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox. All hollow stem augers will be steam-cleaned prior
to advancement in each borehole.
3.3. MONITORING WELL COMPLETION
The three soil borings will be completed as 2-inch diameter ground water monitoring wells. The
screened interval will extend from approximately 20 to 5 feet bsg. The proposed ground water
monitoring well construction diagram is included as Figure 3.
Monitoring wells will be developed utilizing a submersible pump or bailer. Water will be purged
from each well until purged water is essentially sediment free. Purged ground water will be stored
on-site in DOT drums.
A reference point will be marked on the top of each well head and will be surveyed to the nearest
0.01-foot to determine the relative elevations of the tops of the well casings.
3.4. GROUND WATER MONITORING/SAMPLING
No sooner than 72 hours after installation, ground water monitoring procedures will be performed
for each well. The depth to water and total depth for each well will be measured. A precleaned
submersible pump or dedicated bailer will be used to purge a minimum of three casing volumes from
each well. Stabilization parameters will be measured in the purged water at regular intervals.
Following well recharge of at least 80 percent, a sample will be collected from each well. Purged
water will be placed in 55-gallon DOT containers and stored on-site pending analytical results of
water samples.
3.5. LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Samples will be transported under chain-of-custody in a chilled container, to a state-certified
laboratory for analysis. Selected soil samples and ground water samples will be analyzed for:
• total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d) in accordance with EPA Method
8015m
Adronced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
