. 26 July 2000
AGE-NC Project No 98-0452
for
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with EPA Methods
5030/8015m and 3550,
• Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 602/8020, and
• Oxygenated fuel additives MTBE,tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),
ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE), and tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME)in accordance with
EPA Method 8260-Modified
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation and flow direction were calculated from field data, hydrocarbon-impact to
ground water was assessed from laboratory analysis of the ground water samples
. 3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
The relative elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground
water from the surveyed relative casing elevations (Table 1) Depths to ground water ranged from
3 61 feet to 4 64 feet below the tops of the well casings Relative ground water elevations at the site
ranged from -0 20 feet in MW-2 to -0 43 in MW-1 relative to mean sea level The ground water
gradient was calculated to be 0 0027 ft/ft directed S 16° E
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g and BTEX compounds were not analyzed in the ground water samples collected during the'
April 2000 sampling event
TPH-d was not reported above laboratory reporting limits in any of the ground water samples
analyzed
MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8020 in the ground water sample collected from MW-3 at a
concentration of 8 2 parts per billion (ppb, reported as micrograms per liter) MTBE was detected
by EPA Method 8260 in the ground water samples collected from MW-1 and MW-3 at
concentrations of 1 7 ppb and 9 1 ppb, respectively(Table 2)
Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Table 2 The laboratory report (MAI
Advanced GeoEnv►ronmental,Inc
