PHASE I ENVIRONMENTAL.SITE ASSESSMENT AND SOIL SAMPLING REPORT
Lodi,California
Shell Purchase Order No.
Delta Project No. 40-90-838
Page 3
unleaded, and diesel #2 fuels. Next to the north side of the Chevron station a water pump was observed.
Cal Stop, a commercial business, occupies half of the leased space in a building located east of the Chevron
station. The other half of the space is presently not leased out. Delta Fire Station #3 is located directly
behind the east side of this building.
3.4 Review of Aerial Photographs
Aerial photographs for the years 1963, 1975,and 1989 were obtained from Geonex Cartwright Aerial Surveys,
Inc. Aerial photographs are presented in Appendix A. Photographs prior to 1963 were unavailable for the
site. Review of the aerial photographs show the subject site has been undeveloped and used for agriculture
since 1963.
The following is a brief discussion of the changes observed in each of the photographs:
1963 There are no structures on the site, and it appears that the subject site and most of
i:
the surround area was used for agriculture purposes. Several irrigation ditches can
be observed crossing the adjacent and subject property. A farmhouse and a°barn
exist southeast"of the subject site. The intersection of Thornton Road and Highway
12 is easily identified in the photograph northwest of the site. At the southwest
corner,a truck stop appears to have been operating. A pond can be observed south
of the subject site.
1975 The truck stop located across Thornton Road, observed in the 1963 photograph, no
longer exists. The irrigation ditch is lined with trees. A large farm, consisting of
many buildings and a track, is located southeast of the subject site. This appears to
be a horse ranch. The pond is still present.
1989 The subject site is still undeveloped cropland. interstate 5 can be observed west of
Highway 12. The farm/ranch observed in the 1975 photograph as been removed. An
access road from Highway 32 to the ranch can be observed in the photograph. The
southwest corner of the Thornton Road and Highway 12 intersection is now a Park-
N-Ride. The Chevron station located south of the subject site and the Texaco station
