SUMIDEN WIRE PRODUCTS CORPORATION <br /> JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> JOB TITLE: PICKLING/WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPERATOR <br /> WORK ENVIRONMENT <br /> The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee <br /> encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations <br /> may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br /> While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne <br /> particles, caustic or acidic chemicals. The employee frequently works in high, precarious <br /> places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally <br /> works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the <br /> work environment is usually moderate. <br /> COMMENTS <br /> The Pickling /Wastewater Treatment Operator is expected to move coil in, and out about the <br /> plant site using a forklift and overhead bridge crane. <br /> The Operator will process the unpickled coils through the acid tanks, fresh water rinse tanks, <br /> coating tank and deliver finished coils to either the Drawing Machine Lines or deposit the <br /> finished coils in staging area for production. <br /> The Operator will monitor the wastewater pH balance tanks and sumps, and maintain the system <br /> at acceptable levels. This will include the mixing of Caustic Soda and Water in batch form if <br /> necessary, and will meter through metering pumps as necessary to maintain proper pH of <br /> Wastewater entering the POTW. <br /> The Operator will operate a Clarifier Tank System, to remove heavy metals or sludge from the <br /> wastewater, and a Filter Press to remove sludge from the wastewater line system, clarifier <br /> and sumps. This may involve polymers, metering, cleaning, and dumping Filter Cake in either <br /> a Non-Hazardous Waste Bin or a Hazardous Waste Bin, depending on the waste product. <br /> The Operator will operate and care for, the Acid Recovery System. This will require the <br /> operator to install empty"Super Sacks" to the system, turn on, open valves, adjust flows etc. <br /> and extract Ferrous Sulphate from the Acid Pickling Bath on a continuous basis until the sack <br /> is full. (Approx. 2000-pounds). The operator will changout the sacks, weigh the full sack, <br /> record the weight, date, name of Operator, and shift and prepare the sack for shipment, <br /> per current EPA regulations. <br /> Employees must comply with the Code of Safe Practices and all Company Rules <br /> May be involved in adjusting, handeling, loading etc. of RCRA and Non-RCRA Hazardous Waste as <br /> required on a periodic nature and will be trained and tested by the Company or an outside source <br /> on an annual basis. <br />
