SITE AND VICINITY GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS <br /> The subject property is located within an agricultural area of unincorporated San Joaquin <br /> County, northwest of the City of Ripon, California. Figure 1 shows the setting of the <br /> subject property (7.5 Minute United States Geological Survey [USGS] Topographic <br /> Series, Ripon, California); Figures 2 and 3 depict prominent features on the subject <br /> property. Photographs of the subject property are provided in Appendix B. <br /> 2.3. CURRENT USE OF PROPERTY <br /> The property is developed with a single-family dwelling and detached garage, and a large- <br /> scale commercial nursery. <br /> 3.0. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> Geology and The subject property is located within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province. The <br /> Hydrology Great Valley is an alluvial plain about 50 miles wide and 400 miles long in the central <br /> part of California. Its northern part is the Sacramento Valley, drained by the <br /> Sacramento River and its southern part is the San Joaquin Valley drained by the San <br /> Joaquin River. The Great Valley is a trough in which sediments have been deposited <br /> almost continuously since the Jurassic to the present. Basement rocks of the Great <br /> Valley Geomorphic Province have not been identified, though are thought to be <br /> igneous or metamorphic in origin. <br />
