which is dedicated to land conservation. The conservation easement is central to the development of Buckeye Ranch, its management philosophy and the Resource Plan. Environmentally sensitive management is an active process and therefore the Resource Plan is a working document. The Plan contains mechanisms to insure periodic updating. On a regular basis information gained from pilot projects and management activities will be incorporated into the plan. Relevant information from the fields of ecology, IPM and resource management will also be reviewed and incorporated into the Management Plan. The result will be adaptive restoration and management, an ongoing process of refinement. The objectives of the project are to develop homes and recreational facilities on Buckeye 1 Ranch while preserving and enhancing natural wildlife and habitat values. Therefore human impacts both during the construction phase and over the long term management of the property will be minimized. Environmental conditions, construction activities, restoration projects and land and habitat management activities will be carefully monitored under the direction of the group which receives the conservation easement to insure compliance with the overall preservation objectives. 1.2 An overview of the Resource Plan Document The introduction, Section 1, states the project's guiding philosophy, objectives and a brief description of the development plans for Buckeye Ranch. In Section 2, the natural features and processes of the site are characterized as well as recent human use, management and fire history. In Section 3 the development plans are described more fully based on six use categories, or zones, along with the management,restoration and preservation planned for each zone. Management and restoration plans are set out more fully in the next two sections. Section 4 addresses the impact of the proposed development on the natural resources of the Ranch, and the conservation of special status species is discussed in Buckeye Ranch Resource Plan (November, 1993) 15
