Improve irrigation and drainage systems <br /> 5 Integrate livestock and food crops to improve soil fertility. <br /> 6 Minimize pesticide use through IPM (Integrated Pest Management) <br /> methods <br /> 7. Explore the use of greenhouse farming. <br /> & Increase the use of aquaculture. <br /> Building Design <br /> The design of individual buildings is essential to developing sustainable patterns of <br /> behavior. Everything from lighting to composting food scraps must be considered. In <br /> this regard the building designs should: <br /> 1. Be designed to be energy efficient in terms of <br /> a. heating cooling. <br /> b. ventilation <br /> c building material <br /> d. appliances <br /> e lighting <br /> f cooking <br /> gg, water use <br /> h_ space <br /> 2 Include efficient waste handling and recycling efforts <br /> 3. Where does the food come from? Where do the people work and - <br /> play? Rem the area's sustainable resources <br /> 2 Encourage low impact transportation like walking bicycling etc <br /> 3.
