File No. 20-2245-29.E01 K L E t N FELDER <br /> November 1, 1996 <br /> SERVICES PERFORMED <br /> Task E01 - Permitting and Pre-Field Activities <br /> Kleinfelder's proposal dated July 5, 1996 was submitted to the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services Department Environmental Health Division <br /> (PHS/EHD) for review and approval. Kleinfelder prepared a health and safety <br /> plan for submittal along with this proposal to PHS/EHD. <br /> Task E02 -Asbestos Sampling <br /> The goal of the soil assessment was to: <br /> • Assess the adequacy of excavation in the three former stockpile locations <br /> • Assess background asbestos levels on site <br /> On October 3, 1996, a Kleinfelder geologist collected a total of 24 soil samples. <br /> Fourteen (14) confirmatory soil samples were collected in thr eeee work areas <br /> (former stockpiles) at the subject site (See Plates 3 to 5). An additional ten <br /> surface soil samples were obtained to as. s ackround levels (See Plate 2). <br /> FORMER STOCKPILE LOCATIONS <br /> The areas of previous dumping and excavation activities are denoted on Plate 2. <br /> A total of 14 soil samples were collected from these areas, four in Work Area #1, <br /> .-eight in Work Area#2, and two in Work Area #3. All soil samples were obtained <br /> roximately from the surface to assess the adequacy of excavation. <br /> BACKGROUND SAMPLING <br /> General background sampling was performed on site outside of the stockpiling <br /> and excavation areas.
