Kleinfelder prepared a health and safety
plan for submittal along with this proposal to PHS/EHD.
Task E02 -Asbestos Sampling
The goal of the soil assessment was to:
• Assess the adequacy of excavation in the three former stockpile locations
• Assess background asbestos levels on site
On October 3, 1996, a Kleinfelder geologist collected a total of 24 soil samples.
Fourteen (14) confirmatory soil samples were collected in thr eeee work areas
(former stockpiles) at the subject site (See Plates 3 to 5). An additional ten
surface soil samples were obtained to as. s ackround levels (See Plate 2).
FORMER STOCKPILE LOCATIONS
The areas of previous dumping and excavation activities are denoted on Plate 2.
A total of 14 soil samples were collected from these areas, four in Work Area #1,
.-eight in Work Area#2, and two in Work Area #3. All soil samples were obtained
roximately from the surface to assess the adequacy of excavation.
BACKGROUND SAMPLING
General background sampling was performed on site outside of the stockpiling
and excavation areas.
