• Maintains Product Purity — RED
THREAD IIA pipe is chemically
compatible with all EPA approved
motor fuels. This assures freedom
from contamination of the
products being conveyed.
• Low Coefficient of Linear
Expansion — The coefficient of
expansion of RED THREAD IIA
pipe is 1/5 to 1/8 that of
thermoplastic flexible pipe and
only twice that of steel.
• Proven Joining System —
Lightweight RED THREAD IIA pipe
is joined with the proven T.A.B.TM
(Threaded and Bonded) joint
which promotes fast, positive
make-up and prevents "backout"
problems during cure time. These
features assist the installer and
assure economical installation.
• Reliability— Smith
Fiberglass Products fiberglass
piping is designed and
manufactured to meet the
requirements of governmental
environmental regulations,
including EPA. Fiberglass piping
differs from other products
which are designed for easy
replacement in the event of fuel
incompatibility.
• Telescoping Inspection
Containment — Smith Fiberglass
Products offers the only 100
percent* inspectable telescoping
double-wall fiberglass pipe system.
The system provides assurance of a
leak -free primary system before the
containment is closed and tested.
And, it allows access to the primary
piping after the installation is
completed.
• Easy, Economical Installation —
The exclusive T.A.B. joint is
supplied on primary piping. Spigot
ends and couplings are threaded
with special profile double -lead
threads. The standard joining
procedure for field -made epoxy
is achieved by the
,bonds
mechanical locking action of
matching bell and spigot tapered
angles. Compatible adhesives from
Smith Fiberglass Products are used
* U.S. Patent 4,805,444
to bond the piping system. The
components needed to make a
bond, along with a detailed
instruction sheet, are included
with each adhesive kit.
When RED THREAD IIA primary
pipe is cut to length on the
jobsite, the cut end must be
retapered. Tapering tools,
available from Smith Fiberglass
Products (Bulletin No. F6600,
F6624 and F6625), quickly apply
the proper matching taper —
similar to a pencil sharpener. Plain,
unthreaded field -made tapers can
be joined with T.A.B. joint
couplings. Either T.A.B. spigots or
field -made tapers may be joined
with belled fittings.
When connecting containment
pipe and fittings, plain ends of the
containment pipe are machined
or thoroughly sanded to accept
the two-piece UL/ULC Listed
containment fitting. Matching
adhesives are used to bond the
system.
For a complete catalog or case
histories describing real-life RED
THREAD IIA application success
stories, please call 501-568-4010
or visit our website at
www.smithfiberglass.com.
