HAZARDOUS WASTE CONTINGENCY
Specific procedures for prevention, mitigation and abatement of a release of
hazardous waste generated at your business. This section only applies to hazardous
waste generators.
The "Ripon Flying J Travel Plaza"is a licensed "hazardous waste generator. "
However, due to the quantities and types of materials stored on site, certain protocol
is maintained.
Hazardous waste streams include: Under dispenser and turbine sump contact water,
used gasoline and diesel filters, and contaminated absorbents.
All potentially hazardous materials, greater than five gallons, are stored in locked
cabinets, or in tanks which are locked. The oil water separator has a heavy cover,
making accessibility difficult. All hazardous materials are labeled as such and MSDS
are located at each facility. Facility personnel have been trained in the handling of
these materials (record of the training are located in the General Manager's Office)
The disposal of hazardous materials, including those from the oil water separator, is
to be done only by a contractor licensed to haul hazardous waste in the state of
California. Hazardous materials which are not used over a 90 day period are to be
disposed of by a licensed hazardous waste contractor.
8. UNAUTHORIZED RELEASE RESPONSE PLAN
Specific procedures for mitigation, abatement and reporting of an unauthorized
release from an underground storage tank(UST). The plan must address a release
from a single wall or a double wall tank system as applicable. This plan should cover
the entire UST system. This section only applies to UST owner/operators.
This description concerns only an underground release. Please see previous sections
for surface releases.
1.
