Air monitoring must be performed in the work area to document breathing-zone <br /> concentrations. If air monitoring results indicate concentrations greater than 700 ppm, <br /> then Level B respiratory protection will be implemented. <br /> Respirator cartridges must be changed at the end of a work period or if <br /> "breakthrough" occurs. If employees experience continuous cartridge "breakthrough", <br /> then the employee's work procedures and the level of respiratory protection must be <br /> re-evaluated by the Site Safety Officer and the Health and Safety Manager in order <br /> to determine the necessity of upgrading to Level B respiratory protection. <br /> 14.10 Damage to a Utility <br /> In the event an underground utility (gas, electric, sewer, water, phone, etc.) is struck <br /> in the course of subsurface drilling, the local utility shall be notified as soon as <br /> possible after any fire or injuries are addressed as listed above. <br /> 14.11 General Health <br /> Medicine and alcohol can increase the effects of exposure to toxic chemicals. Unless <br /> specifically approved by a qualified physician, prescription drugs should not be taken <br /> by personnel assigned to operations where the potential for absorption, inhalation or <br /> ingestion of toxic substances exists. <br /> Drinking alcoholic beverages is prohibited. Drinking alcoholic beverages and driving <br /> is prohibited at any time. Driving at excessive speeds is always prohibited. <br /> Skin abrasions must be thoroughly protected to prevent chemicals from penetrating <br /> the abrasion. It is recommended that contact lenses not be worn by persons working <br /> on the site. <br /> 14.12 MSDS Information (When Available) <br /> Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on chemical substances encountered at the site <br /> shall be made available to all persons (including subcontractors) working at the site. <br /> These MSDS's shall be enclosed within this site safety plan in Appendix D. For <br /> emergency situations not specifically addressed by this site safety plan, refer to MSDS <br /> recommendations for action information. <br /> 15.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS <br /> 15.1 Medical Surveillance <br /> All subcontractor personnel and visitors who intend to enter the exclusion zones or <br /> decontamination areas shall participate in a medical surveillance program that meets <br /> the requirements of 20 CFR 1910.120. <br /> CRC Environmental Risk Management,Inc.
