dry for 3-5 minutes between tattoos. Tattoo machines will be wiped down with a cide
cloth if any ink has gotten onto the machine.
9. Reusable tubes: All reusable needle tubes are immersed in a cide and allowed to soak
for 3-5 minutes after each use or if their packaging/seal is ripped or opened and then
sterilized again. Portable light fixtures are sprayed with a cide and allowed to soak for 3-5
minutes before being wiped down at least once daily.
10. Permanent cosmetic machine: We do not perform any cosmetic tattooing therefore we
do not own any cosmetic tattoo equipment.
B. Reusable Instruments or Disposable: Describe the procedures used for
decontaminating, sterilizing, packaging and storing of reusable instruments. Include the
for labeling of sterilized peel-packs. Indicate whether the body art facility uses all pre-
sterilized, single use and disposable instruments.
1. Needle Tubes: Most needle tubes are single use and pre-sterilized. Once a pre-
sterilized needle tube has been used it is thrown away. All invoices from ordering pre-
sterilized needle tubes and needles are kept on site. The backs of all the peel packs for pre
sterilized needle tubes and needles are stapled to the back of the procedure forms after the
forms have bee completed. Every release form is held on site for at least ninety days and
then moved to an off site storage location. Needle tubes that are reusable are submerged
in a cide and allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes then washed with a mixture of soap and
water and allowed to air dry. After the tubes have completely dried they are individually
packaged and labeled with the date, persons initials that prepared them, the load number
and then put in the autoclave for sterilization. Reusable sterilized tubes are stored in
sealable/closing plastic containers in or near the workstation away from the cleaning
room.
Storage: Describe the storage location and equipment used for the storage of clean and
sterilized instrument peel packs to protect the packages from dust and moisture.
1. Instrument peel packs are stored in plastic containers with closable lids to protect the
peel packs from dust and moisture.
D. Set Up and Tear Down of Workstation: Describe the procedure for setting up and
breaking down the workstation for the following procedures.
1. Tattoo: First the workstation is decontaminated by spraying a cide on all surfaces that
will be used during the tattoo. The cide is allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes before being
wiped down. Any and all surfaces which are touched by open bare skin (armrests, head
rests, chairs, stools and tables) are covered with a 2 ply dental bib and then an additional
layer of cling wrap is placed over the dental bib. The same covering is applied to trays
and countertops. If a customer lies on a massage table and their bare skin is exposed to
that massage table it is covered by a stretcher sheet. After the trays and countertops being
used are covered the tattoo machines, needle tubes, needles, inks and anything else used
