Obtain keys for unit from the Basement Janitor Room. <br />Page 2 of 4 #814 <br />6480 <br />Effective: 6190 <br />When the door of the unit is safe to open the pressure gauge will drop to "0" (zero). <br />Always check this gauge first and proceed when safe. <br />1. Unlock the padlock and move the chain out of the locked position. Do not <br />remove lock and chain away from unit, only from the locked position. <br />2. Stand away from the unit to allow the safe release of any steam that may be <br />inside the unit and lift the locking latch at the top. <br />3. Turn the arrow knob on the unit handle to the up position. Move the handle up <br />and down until the door releases. <br />4. Open door. Fasten the door open with the hook attached to the back wall to <br />prevent the door from closing on you. <br />C. Holding drawer: <br />1. To open drawer, place the rails down, check for proper alignment. When aligned, <br />pull the drawer out. <br />2. To close, push the drawer back into the unit, lift rails, unhook door latch from the <br />wall. <br />D. When filling the sterilizing unit, the drawer must not be filled beyond 75% maximum <br />capacity for processing of each load. Never overload the drawer for processing. <br />1. The bags must be closed securely with a twister prior to placement inside the <br />unit. <br />2. The contents of each bag will not exceed 50% fluid as total volume. <br />E. When closing the unit door: <br />1. Turn the arrow knob on the autoclave handle to the DOWN position. <br />2. Move the handle up and down until the door is closed well. Do not force with <br />strength. <br />3. When initially closing the door, place your hand on the door handle and push <br />lightly. <br />4. When closed, close the locking lever at the top. <br />
