These bags are to be <br /> kept.dosed or sealed. <br /> 3. Dispose of red plastic bas in red waste container located in your <br /> area. <br /> 4. Double bag in clear plastic bags, material going to Central Service <br /> to be sterilized. <br /> Label the clear plastic bags with the type of equipment <br /> enclosed for sterilization. <br /> 5. Housekeeping will routinely pick up infectious waste at 1000 and <br /> 1400 hours. <br /> Notify housekeeping if an additional collection is required. <br /> 6. Housekeeping will transport infectious waste in a.closed container <br /> to a separate infectious waste bin located in a locked area at the <br /> rear of the hospital. <br /> B. Laboratory wastes <br /> 1. Culture plates, tubes, sputum cups, swabs, and the like shall be <br /> sterilized by autoclaving. This waste will then be transported to <br /> the infectious waste bin located outside on the hospital grounds. <br /> C. Pathology - Tissues wastes and amputations <br /> 1. Tissue wastes shall be fixed and stored in glass jars with formalin. <br /> After use, they will be transported for incineration. <br /> 2. Amputation specimens shall be plastic bagged with formaldehyde, <br /> paper wrapped then put into a wooden box.
