Uierfna Nursing&Refiabilitatior7 Cent <br /> • All red biohazard waste bags packaged for disposal are contained into a USDOT <br /> approved containers lined with a biohazard bag that is ASTM D1709 and <br /> ASTM D1922 certified. These secondary containers have tight fitting lids and in good repair. <br /> Container shall be labeled with the words"Biohazardous Waste" or"BIOHAZARD "on the <br /> lid and on the sides so as to be visible from any lateral direction. <br /> • All biohazardous secondary containers are to be routinely cleaned and decontaminated. If a <br /> secondary biohazardous waste container becomes contaminated with biohazardous <br /> materials, immediately clean and decontaminate with an appropriate disinfectant. <br /> • When containers are prepared for transport offsite from the facility, they are <br /> prepared in compliance with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) <br /> requirements. <br /> • The facility generates 20 or more pounds of biohazardous waste per month. <br /> The facility shall not contain or store that waste above zero degree Centigrade <br /> (32 degrees Fahrenheit) at this onsite location for more than seven (7) days without <br /> obtaining prior written approval of the enforcement agency. <br /> Municipal solid wastes are not to be disposed of in medical waste containment <br /> devices. Contaminated waste from isolation patients will be placed in red biohazard <br /> bags labeled with the word "Biohazard Waste". Any medical waste such as <br /> soaked/dripping bloody dressings, blood tubing/bags/hemovacs/pleuravacs/intact <br /> glass or plastic bottles with body fluids, all disposables soaked or dripping with blood <br /> or OPIM, will be placed in the red biohazard bags labeled with words "Biohazard <br /> Waste" or the word Biohazard with international biohazard symbol. <br /> 2. Sharps Waste <br /> • All sharps waste is placed into a sharps container which is rigid puncture-proof <br /> container that when sealed are leak resistant and not able to be reopened without <br /> great difficulty. This container is used in patient care or research activities meeting the <br /> standards of, and received approval from, the United States Food and Drug <br /> Administration as a medical device used for the collection of discarded medical <br /> needles or other sharps <br /> 6 j <br /> i <br />
